The Norman Collinson Charitable Trust gives financial support by way of grants to charities and charitable causes. The support is given to projects benefiting the residents of York and the surrounding areas. Grants rarely exceed £5,000 and are more often in the range of £200 to £2,000.
The Trust is largely funded by the capital provided by its founder, Norman Collinson. The Trust has also benefitted from some subsequent family donations and donations from other charities. The Trustees meet once a month to consider applications. Generally the Trust aims to assist people of all ages living with disabilities and / or additional individual needs as well as local community organisations where social need is demonstrated. The Trustees confine support to the benefit of people in York and district (usually within a 20 mile radius) unless special circumstances apply.
The Trust normally receives approximately 100 grant applications and awards approximately 80 grants per annum. Since being founded the Trust has donated over £3,594,000 and these grants have been funded, in the main, by income and growth of the original capital. If you are interested in making a financial donation to help the work of the Trust please contact the Clerk to the Trustees to discuss options.
